Familiar names before the reorganisation: Sơn La.
Son La has many landscapes, but a short break works best in one area. This itinerary concentrates on Moc Chau’s pastures, dairy farming and gentle outdoor stops.
Worked and died in Son La Prison; born in Xuan Cau, Hung Yen.
Son La remembers an activist who sustained education and organisation in prison.
Born in Hung Yen in 1912, To Hieu was sent to Son La Prison in early 1940, where he helped organise, educate and support fellow prisoners.
He died there on 7 March 1944. His story shows how a place’s history also includes people who arrived from elsewhere.
Explore Son La Prison historical site and its martyrs cemetery.
Contextual remembrance suggestions appear under attractions with a verified connection. A white flower where permitted is enough; sharing a photograph is optional.
